Toddler Time September 9, 2008

9:45 AM - 10:30 AM

Toddler Time is a special program that takes place on the second Tuesday of each month.

Programs are designed for children ages 1 – 3 plus a special grown-up and incorporate elements of music, art, literacy and more.

Chesterfield County Free Admission Day September 10, 2008

9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Chesterfield County residents are invited to enjoy a FREE day at the Children’s Museum!

Residents will need to show a picture ID, current utility bill, or other proof of residence in order to receive free admission.

CMoR Art Classes September 11, 2008 to September 26, 2008

9:30 AM - 10:15 AM - every 1 week

Learn papermaking, drawing, watercolor and more in these 45-minute art classes.

Classes for 3 – 6 year-olds are offered every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. To view the class schedule, click here!

Hispanic Heritage Day September 13, 2008

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. of Virginia Commonwealth University will be leading art projects, children’s games, Spanish story time and other activities.

There will also be a special interactive performance by the Latin Ballet of Virginia at 11:00 a.m. Fiesta Del Sol features a lively variety of latin dance traditions including Sevillanas and Flamenco, Capoeira, Raggaeton, and Merenge.

The Mission of the Latin Ballet of Virginia is to preserve and promote the Latin American and Spanish cultures, by teaching and performing for diverse audiences in North and South America for charitable and educational purposes. The Company provides professional training to its dancers and students and enhances the community by offering high quality educational programs through dance.

Homeschool Expo September 14, 2008

Join Us For The 2008 Richmond Homeschool Expo!

This exciting event is proudly sponsored by KidMed, an innovative Pediatric Urgent Care Center staffed by board certified pediatricians specializing in pediatric emergency medicine, opening in Short Pump in Fall 2008.

The Homeschool Expo is FREE and full of fun for all the family:

  • Homeschool sessions
  • FREE demonstration classes
  • Information about homeschool classes and services
  • FREE Goody Bag to the first 300 families – over $20 value (includes Family Fun magazine)
  • Lots of Door Prizes!

Parrish Mort from VaHomeschoolers and Yvonne Bunn from HEAV will be there to answer your questions about homeschooling.

Parrish Mort and Jeanne Faulconer of VaHomeschoolers will be giving talks entitled “Homeschool Help Desk” and “Finding and Refining Your Homeschooling Style”. For veteran homeschoolers, there will be panel discussions about homeschooling to middle school, high school and beyond, as well as “Homeschooling your Special Needs Child” by Barbara Bingham of Teachers On Call.

Preschool aged kids will enjoy Kindermusik, elementary aged kids will enjoy the gym class demonstrations (CORE Kid’s Academy, The Little Gym and My Gym Children’s Fitness Center) and art classes by the Children’s Museum, pre-teens will enjoy the Science Museum and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts demonstrations, and the teens will enjoy information from VCU Engineering. The Virginia Cooperative Extension and CDS Academy of Martial Arts are also doing demonstration classes.
