The Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMoR) is proud to offer access to the city’s premier educational play environment at such a reasonable price.
But even seven dollars a person is beyond the means of many families in Central Virginia. And the children whose parents and schools cannot afford museum admission are often the ones who need the services most.
CMoR strives to provide every child with the chance to play, learn, and explore in a stimulating, hands-on environment. The museum’s doors are open so that all children in the community can benefit from fun, educational activities such as an afternoon in the Art Studio, story time with a volunteer, a quality SOL-based field trip about American Indians or a big hug from Seymour the Friendly Dinosaur.
With contributions from the community, the CMoR Scholarship Fund works with schools and non-profit organizations to provide admission, membership, and program tuition for children, families, and school groups who could not otherwise visit the museum. As little as $35 dollars helps to keep CMoR accessible to everyone, and supports the museum mission to inspire the potential of all children by appealing to their natural capacity for curiosity, exploration, and learning.
Your gift to the CMoR Scholarship Fund will directly benefit underserved, financially disadvantaged children in our community:
- $35 allows a family of 5 with limited means to visit the museum for the day
- $50 enables a grandmother to purchase a reduced price membership so she can bring her grandchildren to the museum for a full year
- $100 lets 5 homeless children come to Kids’ Carniball, the museum’s premier children’s entertainment event
- $250 brings a HeadStart class to the museum for an SOL-based class and free time to play and explore the museum
- $500 lets a daycare center serving low-income children enjoy an organized art activity in the museum’s Art Studio
- $1,000 covers tuition for 6 children from low income families to enjoy a week of summer camp at the museum
