2008 – 2009 CMoR Field Trip Programs For Preschools & Daycares
- All programs are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning, NAEYC, VA Foundation Block Standards.
- Field Trip Programs are available September 15, 2008 – June 2009, Monday through Friday from 9:30-5:00.
- All programs are $8.00 per person and are about an hour long.
- Each Field Trip Program includes unlimited time to explore and play in the Museum.

- Group Visits: Groups of 10 or more can enjoy unlimited self-guided exploration time in the Museum for $6.00 per person.
- CMOR Programs at Your School: Offered throughout the school year based on availability. For more information, please click here or call 474-7015.
- Food: Groups may bring a lunch. Tables are limited but seating is available in the lobby and outside plaza.
- Parking: Free parking adjacent to the Museum.

2008-2009 Field Trip Programs
Blooming Butterflies (Pre-K)
SOLs:

Investigate pattern, shape and color while learning the lifecycle of a butterfly! Students’ creativity will bloom as they produce a beautiful nature-inspired work of art.
Circle of Friends (Pre-K)
SOLs:

Students will discover the rich, diverse celebrations of Richmond neighbors. Through hands-on activities students will develop insights into different cultures and their values, recognizing them as part of our community.
Creative Composers (Pre-K)

Create, listen and move! Students will be encouraged to let all of their creative juices flow and use music as a guide. A variety of art mediums will be teamed with creative movement, music and literature to inspire creative exploration.
Dinosaur Discovery (Pre-K)

Uncover clues from the past and learn how dinosaurs lived and what they looked like. Students can work like a paleontologist, take part in a dig, and classify their findings. Let learning and fun erupt with our volcano!
Down By the River (Pre-K)

Discover a diverse habitat that is special to the Richmond area and beyond: the James River! From fish to frogs, learn about many animals that call the river their home. Create a reminder of this special habitat to take home.
Drumsticks (Pre-K)

Children will enjoy an Asante tale from West Africa, The Leopard’s Drum. Students will participate in a drum circle exploring visual and auditory patterns. A special mask will be created for children to take home.
Hop Around the World (Pre-K)

Did you know Hopscotch is played all over the world? Come to the museum to ‘hop’ around the world starting from our own city block. Children will celebrate the diverse world we live in through play, literature, art, movement, reading and writing.
Puppet Palooza (Pre-K)

Creativity and learning ‘come alive’! Children will experience a story through dramatic play with puppets. Various types of puppets will be introduced. Children will have an opportunity to create their very own puppet to take home.
Ready, Set…Grow! (Pre-K)

What does it take to grow a garden? What tools do birds use to get their food? What are the ingredients needed to make things grow? We will make our own special blend of soil to take home and start our own little garden!
Sinking and Floating Matters (Pre-K)

Is it a sinker or a floater? Work like a scientist conducting various investigations, making predictions and forming conclusions to see what objects hit the bottom or stay on top.
What Senses I Have! (Pre-K)

I can see, I can hear, I can taste, I can touch and boy does that smell! Students learn about the five marvelous senses and which body parts are involved. Students will explore their senses through experiments and even create a “sense-ational” work of art to bring home.
